Her education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Jen also holds the following certifications in the Fitness Industry: Certified Biggest Loser Pro, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Jen has a true love for health and fitness that includes the body and soul. She knew early on that fitness was a need in her daily routine and that it helped her cope with the daily struggles of Dyslexia and ADD so she decided to teach classes. Jen taught step aerobics for 12 years. But it wasn't until just a few years ago that she realized while exercise and eating well did wonders for her body and mind, something was missing. Growing up with ADD and Dyslexia, and the shame that comes with those disorders, had done their fair share of damage within. After a few fairly typical life highs and lows Jen took a step back and took some time to focus up and in. She learned that she had been feeding herself physically but not spiritually, and it's impossible to truly be well without both of them working in concert. She is now in her 40's and feeling better than she ever has. She and her husband love to run although she will tell you she is NOT a runner. She has competed in one Triathlon, and placed first but you have to go here to get the real story. Her goal is to run 3 Half Marathons in 2013 and she looks forward to cheering for her husband Rob in the Memphis St. Jude Marathon in December (his first full marathon). You can help Rob raise money for St. Jude here. Running has truly become a family event as both of her kids have competed in kids marathons and triathlons. Jen has a deep passion for supporting women in recovery to live lives of wholeness, body and soul. That was the spark that ignited Compassion Fitness. Compassion is more than writing a check, true compassion requires that we get involved. True compassion has a deep inability to do nothing. Practice compassion and you to will find that the prophet Isaiah was right; Spend yourself on behalf of those in need and your light will break forth like the dawn. Compassion is for the one who is clothed in it and the one who receives it. Won't you join us? Won't you come pass it on? |
